Disclaimer

There are no doctors in the house! We are not here to diagnose, medicate or treat ADHD in any way, shape or form. We are just a couple trying to get along when one of us has ADHD and the other does not. If you think you may have ADHD, please consult a real doctor with a real med school degree. We are in no way qualified to diagnose, treat or advise anyone on medications for ADHD.

From Elaine: I have chosen so far not to medicate my own condition because of my own experiences that do not apply to anyone else. By the time I was diagnosed at 38 years old, ADHD had become so much a part of my personality that I did not feel like myself for the time that I was on medication for about a month. It also put out some of the fire that my husband fell in love with about me. It was at that time, being a stay at home mother anyway, that I decided medication was not for me, at least not then.

Through the years since then, I have reconsidered my position on the medication from time to time, but have not had the patience to go back to the doctor, get re-diagnosed, and go through the trouble of finding the right medication for me. I would like to be more productive, maybe be able to hold down a job, and be better at finishing things, but I don't have the patience necessary to get to that point. When you think about it, ADHD is holding me back from being properly treated for ADHD. Talk about irony.
